Bawdsey: Tracing WWII Relatives by Dr Phil Judkins
Bawdsey Radar have been holding a series of Wednesday Talks in September, of which these two talks, at 11am and 2pm on the 29th, will be the last.
Many families have stories or perhaps some old black-and-white photographs passed on from their relatives who were in the armed forces during World War II — but how do you go about finding out more details after so many years have passed? This fascinating talk is given by Dr Phil Judkins, the renowned radar historian and lecturer at the Universities of Leeds and Buckingham. Come along to Bawdsey Radar Museum to discover how you can trace your family history from the wartime records, and find out how to use the very many archives and sources of information that are available. Duration of talk: 45 minutes. Visit https://www.bawdseyradar.org.uk/whats-on/ for fuller details.
Pre-booking is ESSENTIAL for these illustrated talks. Tickets can booked via Bawdsey Radar's online booking system at https://bawdsey-radar.arttickets.org.uk/bawdsey-radar/2021-05-01-2021-season (at the foot of the page), to include Q&A, light refreshments, an opportunity to look around the exhibition and to visit their Gift Shop.
Adult admission is £7.50 (the same as for general admission, which is suspended that day), but there are several discounted or free Friends' tickets available — see their webpage for details.
The talks take place at Bawdsey Radar, Transmitter Block, Bawdsey, IP12 3BA — which is located off the B1083, one mile beyond Bawdsey village. View the map, above right.
