25th March 2019:

Please note that the Federation of Family History Societies has a new telephone number.
With immediate effect the new telephone number is 01263 824951.

The Federation of Family History Societies is rebranding as Family History Federation.  This acknowledges that the membership of the Federation is wider than just family history societies, encompassing a range of associated organisations.  ‘Family History Federation’ also reflects how its focus is firmly on family history: the primary purpose being to encourage, educate and support all family historians.  It is definitely not a change to the corporate name, but a change to the ‘brand’ image/logo used by FFHS.  The charitable company’s name remains:  The Federation of Family History Societies.

The Family History Federation will launch at Family Tree Live, at Alexandra Palace on 26th April 2019.  A new-look website will showcase member organisations, and act as a gateway for family historians to find the help and expertise they need to grow their tree.

FEDERATION E-NEWSLETTER

The Federation publishes a free e-newsletter every two months covering genealogy news, resources and events.  It's a great guide for both beginners and experts, explaining how to grow your family tree and discover your ancestry.  Recent issues have covered a wide range of family-history topics, including how to make the most of DNA in genealogy, to research occupations of your ancestors, and to use archives to uncover your heritage and origins.  Copies are available free to anyone who is interested.
You can subscribe to the FFHS Newsletter here.

Also, FFHS-NEWS is a 'one-way' mailing list which is used to make announcements from the Federation and to publish information of general interest.
By contrast with the bi-monthly Newsletter mentioned above, it is sent as and when the news is received.
You can subscribe to FFHS-NEWS here.

The Federation also publishes free information leaflets which are essential guides to family history research.  Their "Our Really Useful Information Leaflet" gives researchers with roots in the British Isles everything they need to grow their family tree.  There are also Australasian and North American editions.  See under "FHF" on our Downloads page ⎋ .
